Back when I first study diet, nutrition, I heard a lot about carbs "good" and "bad" carbs. Good means complex, bad means simple. The difference between the two lies mainly how is digested. Good carbs (such as vegetables) Digest slowly, summary bad carbohydrates (such as sugar) quickly.
The war between good and bad carbs, something I repeatedly had lists of carbohydrates which were good, the bad, and when a low carb diet back was even more than today, everybody and their grandmother wrote a list of bad carb carb/good of their own.
Typically, these lists were pretty good. People learned that Brown rice better than white rice. better sweet potatoes white wheat bread all better than white bread.
Wait … Hold it there.
When you study this whole wheat bread was good bread, I was the first in my shop to pick up the next day a few whole wheat bread.Bethlehem "bad" no more for me. So I went down to white bread aisle ... Of bread, white bread, white bread, waiting, here we go ... Whole wheat bread!
I bought it I had eaten it. ... I bought more. I ate more. Each piece of bread, I was eating from the same point on single was wheat. It felt good to know I was eating food "better".
Cut to some time later. Whole wheat bread was in the "good" carb. See, he would now have already replaced the whole wheat bread of "100%".Oh no, it seems as though the lists I'm already not specific enough. apparently, whole wheat bread I now and may not have been 100%. Who knew it was something less than 100%?
So I went back to the store.White bread, white bread, whole wheat bread, Ah, here we go, whole wheat bread … 100%. Now I got the correct answer. Close the white bread, close the whole wheat bread everyday too, you already have both already has 100% healthy far more whole wheat bread.
Cut to some time later this was when I learned ... the point of this post.Just like the "good" and "bad" carbs, also happens to be "good", "bad" wheat bread …And "100%" has nothing to do with it.
To understand the difference, the first thing to do is to ignore the "100%". just ignore it completely. means nothing to you. think about it more like a marketing slogan than a fact nutritional. know what, just ignore completely the entire front Suite Bethlehem. nothing important has anyway.
What you need to do is to run all of the attention back. Specifically, the materials. This is where you'll find if you really have chosen whole wheat bread, "good".
To help show the difference between "good" and "bad", here is the list of ingredients on a package of wheat bread, Arnold and 100% full:
"Whole wheat flour, water, gluten, Aniseed Syrup high fructose corn, Cracked wheat, yeast, salt, partially Hydrogenated soybean oil, Boston molasses, raisin juice concentrate, Ethoxylated Mono-and Diglycerides Calcium Propionate (Preservative), honey, soy lecithin."
The following is a list of ingredients on the back of a package of other bread, Arnold brand named Arnold natural time 100% full-wheat bread:
"Unbleached enriched wheat flour [flour, Malted barley flour, Niacin, reduced iron, Thiamin Mononitrate (vitamin B1), Folic acid, Riboflavin (vitamin B2)], water, Cracked wheat, wheat flour, yeast, salt, barley honey, fructose, wheat gluten, partially Hydrogenated soybean oil, wheat bran, malt, Ethoxylated Mono-and Diglycerides, high fructose corn syrup, Calcium Propionate (Preservative), Caramel color, soy flour, ????????, calcium carbonate, soy lecithin, Nonfat milk."
And now, here's the materials on the back of the whole wheat pita bread I package today:
Stone flour wheat full of land, water, yeast, salt, Calcium Propionate
Catch all the differences?I bet some of you have made. that stand out most bashniim ingredients first Aniseed Syrup high fructose corn partially Hydrogenated soybean oil. Both of them are junk. The second bread also lists has been enriched wheat Unbleached flour, which is almost like saying "Borderline whole wheat bread msolf."
These are the things that you do not want to see anywhere near the list of substances of a kind of whole wheat bread of course prevent that 90% of whole wheat bread market, that 90% of them contain one or more of these components. In addition, as you can see two bread first, the fact that it says "100% whole wheat bread, whole" or "natural" to the package means very little.
In fact, I was in my grocery store yesterday, knowing that I'm going to blog about this today, I took a minute bamabr bread to check the ingredients. literally each unit 100% whole wheat bread store contained high fructose corn syrup of.
So, now you know everything about whole wheat bread "bad", you're probably wondering brands make 10% of the bread "good enough"., I don't have interesting all brands listed you off my head. brand I eat is only part of a small local brand that you won't find anywhere else except for some small stores in my neighborhood.
Now, while it is possible you may be able to find your own brand "good" small local whole wheat bread nearby, there is one place where you are almost guaranteed to find one ...Health food store.
Most (if not all) of bread that to find your grocery store will contain one or more components, the "bad" mentioned before a health food store bread. are specifically to be the opposite of Bethlehem junky.
Still want to buy the ingredients of whole wheat bread before double check, but the chances to find bread "good" health food store are much higher than the grocery store one search.
And, just so you know, your materials do not need to match the bread in the same way my bread ingredients to be "good" for example, some bread wheat organic entire huge list of substances in it that doesn't my, will still be in the order perfectly.
Mainly, you check to make certain that things are not. specifically, high fructose corn syrup, partially Hydrogenated soybean oil, all mention of the words "Unbleached" or "Enriched" If you're something that looks a little funny name, feel free to come home and why it is that makes up until before buy it, or eat it. or, leave a comment here with the ingredients, I'll take a peek.
The inescapable (took me 5 minutes to come up with a phrase to start this sentence, by the way), whenever you see a whole wheat bread of 100% on some kind of list of healthy food, just remember that this is more that should go with him.
